Recently I’ve started watching Star Trek: The Next Generation. (update: fmoviesz link for whole series, some specific episodes are not supported so you can run them on flash/download them here)
But if you’re in need of a new series i absolutely recommend it. It is a bit theatrical and cheesy but it’s a space drama from the late 80s-90s what do you expect. They rely on simple cgi and mostly on the practical effects. I think limitations in art breed creative solutions that add to the charm and style of the piece. This definitely applies here for the first season at least. I'm making my way through s2 and it does have more of a budget but still has the charm of s1's practical and digital effects. Because of its episodic nature sometimes the writing on episodes is a bit, uh, dubious (s2ep1). But for the most part the writing team did excellent.

Also this meme is from the original Star Trek which I do NOT recommend to young star trek apprentices, The Next Generation is a good starting point because it's considered the 'best' one. I watched some of the original movies when I was a kid (The apple didn't even fall off the tree dawg) with my dad and even child me was like "...uhm?". The original series had the first interracial kiss on screen, but its still a show from the mid to late 60's with a large group of writers so sometimes you get a bigotry surprise, sorry!( TBH the series is a bit inherently sexist, even subtly in TNG as women don't get as much love from the writers compared to Picard or Data. ) Something to keep in mind when starting 👆 but TNG does a pretty good job with its mostly consistent writing.
